Danny's Story

The Other Side Of The World
News and pictures have arrived back in the Uk of our former colleague Danny Milne as he starts his new exciting career on the other side of the world in Australia. You may recall that Danny had worked for the YMCA for the last 22 months before deciding that he wanted to pursue a new life in a new country and Australia promised him all the opportunities he’d dreamt of.
6,000 acres & a tempErature of 28 degrees (phew!)
Originally Danny moved near Brisbane but the offer of a more challenging job took him to the other side of the country to Boyup Brook near Perth where he moved onto an even bigger cattle ranch.
We received a phone call from Dan at 7.45 one morning here in the UK as he was just finishing his working day at 5.00 pm, he told us he was sat on a quad-bike with a huge chainsaw in one of the smaller paddocks – a mere 6,000 acres and the temperature was 28 degrees – that weekend it was set to hit 32 degrees – back home it was 12 degrees, very grey and overcast and we all looked at each other and felt a pang of envy!
Enjoying Life To The Full
We are learning a lot from Danny’s reports back home - Australia has six states and two major mainland territories and the country is a very prosperous multicultural country. Danny has found out that he should have many good reasons to feel happy there such as the longer life expectancy of residents due in part to a better quality-of-life, human personal developments, well structured public education system, greater economic freedom, and the protection of civil liberties and political rights.
Danny clearly loves the way of life in Australia and despite some initial worries has been pleasantly surprised by the friendliness of the people he has met.
For us it is reassuring to know that our friend and former colleague is being well looked after and enjoying life to the full.
